What is the Egypt eVisa?

The Egypt eVisa is your digital key to exploring the country. The online system is a convenient alternative to the traditional visa process that had you visiting an embassy or consulate.

What can you do with the Egypt eVisa?

This visa allows visitors to enter Egypt for tourism, business, or medical purposes.

What can’t you do with the Egypt eVisa?

This Egypt tourist visa does not allow you to work, live, and/or study in Egypt. Check the Egyptian government website for more info if you want to travel to the country for these reasons.

Who can apply for the Egypt eVisa?

The Egypt Visa opens doors for travelers from over 70 countries, including the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Are you on the list? Our Visa Checker Tool is your go-to for checking your eligibility.

Who is visa-exempt for Egypt?

Here's an excellent tip for US, EU, and UK tourists heading to the Sinai Red Sea resorts like Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba, or Taba: You won't need a visa for up to 14 days. You'll get a free entry permission stamp instead.

But, if your adventures take you beyond these resorts, you'll need to secure a visa before you arrive in Egypt.

Suppose you're from Bahrain, Hong Kong, Israel, Kuwait, Lebanon, Macao, Oman, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, or Malaysia. In that case, the good news is that you don't need a visa to enter Egypt.

However, you might still need extra documents or other permissions. It's a good idea to check with the embassy to ensure you've covered everything.

Do minors require the Egypt eVisa?

Traveling with kids? They must have their passports and Egypt eVisa, no matter their age. Parents or legal guardians can complete the visa application form on their kids’ behalf.

How long is the Egypt eVisa valid?

We offer two types of Egypt visas: a single-entry and a multiple-entry eVisa.

  • Single-entry Visa: With this option, you can enter Egypt once and stay for up to 30 days.

  • Multiple-entry Visa: This option lets you make multiple trips to Egypt and stay up to 30 days per entry. It is super handy for frequent travelers, especially for business or family visits. Depending on your application details, the duration can vary – from three months to a year.

Is it possible to extend the Egypt eVisa?

Need to extend your Egypt eVisa? Here's how to do it:

Head to the immigration office in Cairo to apply for an extension. Online extensions aren't an option for the Egyptian visa.

Try to get there early, like an hour before they open, to dodge the long lines. They're open from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Make sure you apply for the extension before your current visa expires. Overstaying can lead to fines or even a ban from re-entering Egypt. So, remember to keep an eye on your visa's expiry date and plan your trip to the immigration office accordingly!

Egypt eVisa: Required documents

Applying for your Egypt eVisa is straightforward. Here's what you need:

  • A clear scan of your passport: It must be valid for at least six months after you arrive in Egypt and have at least one blank page for stamps.

How to apply for the Egypt eVisa

Just follow these quick steps to apply for your eVisa for Egypt, and you'll be done in no more than 15 minutes:

  • Step 1: Fill out your details on our online platform or our handy iVisa app. Pick a processing time that fits your travel schedule.

  • Step 2: Give your info a quick once-over for accuracy, then hit the payment button. You can use a credit or debit card to pay the visa fees.

  • Step 3: Time to upload the needed documents, like your passport's info page. Then, sit back and relax while we process your eVisa.

We'll send the approved visa to your email once the Egyptian government processes it. And that's it – three simple steps to get your Egypt eVisa sorted!

If you plan to leave the airport or your layover is over 48 hours, you will need an eVisa.

Egypt entry requirements or restrictions

When you arrive in Egypt

I’m planning to take a Nile cruise from Cairo to Aswan but I just realized that my tourist visa is going to expire when I’m on the boat. I’d really like to extend my tourist visa by another 3 months. Where in Cairo can I go to do this, and do I only need to bring my British passport along, or is there anything else required?

To extend your tourist visa in Cairo, you need to visit the Egyptian Passport and Immigration Office that’s located in the Mogamma building in Tahrir Square. Along with your British passport, you should also bring a passport photo, a copy of your passport's biodata page, and a copy of your current visa and entry stamp. Additionally, you may need to provide proof of onward travel or a bank statement to show sufficient funds.

My husband is planning a trip for us that’s going to be a holiday as well as some business meetings with potential Egyptian partners. Is the eVisa okay for business activities as well, or is it limited to just travel and sightseeing?

An Egypt eVisa is suitable for both tourism and business visits. This means you can engage in business activities during your trip with an eVisa, as long as the nature of the activities complies with the eVisa regulations and you have a business invitation letter from an Egyptian company/organization.

An Egypt eVisa is suitable for both tourism and business visits. This means you can engage in business activities during your trip with an eVisa, as long as the nature of the activities complies with the eVisa regulations and you have a business invitation letter from an Egyptian company/organization.

While you have a visa, admission into the country is not guaranteed. Border officials still have the final say on admissions, depending on your situation, entry requirements, and other factors.
At iVisa, we understand that your time is valuable, and we strive to provide you with the fastest service possible. Our processing times are estimated based on the average duration it takes governments to process visa applications. These estimated times begin from the moment we receive all the correct information for your application until you receive your visa. While we work diligently to expedite the process, it’s important to note that we are reliant on the processing times set by the government authorities.
You can start a new application for the Egypt Visa or in case of a specific issue, contact our customer service team via online chat or email at help@iVisa. They are available 24/7.
The iVisa expert reviews all your submitted information and documents to ensure government compliance and guiding you with the application process. If the government rejects your application, you may be eligible for a full refund of the iVisa processing fee related to the number of rejected applicants, but this is not a guarantee. Unfortunately, we do not refund the government fees in case of rejection or cancellation.
You should contact our customer support team as soon as possible if you realize that you made a mistake after submission. In addition, your application will always be reviewed by our experts. If the application has already been reviewed and submitted to the Egypt government agency, it may not be possible to change the information on your application.
