Differences between the Visa on Arrival (e-Voa) and other Indonesian visas

The Indonesia Visa on Arrival (eVoA), the Indonesian eVisa, and the Indonesia Visa are three different types of visas that allow foreign visitors to enter Indonesia. Here are the key differences between them:

  • Visa on Arrival (eVoa): The VoA can be obtained upon arrival at designated entry points in Indonesia, such as Ngurah Rai International Airport.

The application is done at a dedicated VoA counter upon arrival, where the necessary forms and fees are processed. It is also possible to get it online through us to avoid queues.

The VoA allows for a maximum stay of 30 days per entry in Indonesia. However, it can be extended for an additional 30 days at an immigration office or online.

The Visa on Arrival fee varies depending on the country of origin and is paid upon arrival at the designated airport counter. The fee is generally lower compared to the regular Indonesia eVisa.

  • Indonesia eVisa: This electronic visa is available for only a few nationalities. The Indonesia eVisa requires applying online and usually involves submitting the required documents, including a completed application form, passport, supporting documents, and payment of the visa fee.

The eVisa provides different durations of stay depending on the visa category and purpose of the visit. The duration may range from 30 days to multiple years, depending on the eVisa type and the approval granted by the Indonesian authorities.

The eVisa total fee includes the visa fee and a service fee charged by the eVisa platform. The total cost is paid online during the application process. The fees can vary depending on the nationality and the type of eVisa being applied for.

  • Indonesia Visa: The regular Indonesia Visa requires applying in advance at an Indonesian embassy or consulate in your home country or country of residence.

The application process involves submitting the required documents, including a completed application form, passport, supporting documents, and payment of the visa fee. The visa will be affixed to your passport before you travel to Indonesia.

I'm currently in Palembang and just realized my eVOA is about to expire. I'd love to extend it without having to travel to look for the local immigration office. Could you help me with my login details so I can sort this out online?

I've been having an amazing time in Indonesia and managed to extend my visa for another 30 days to soak it all in. My time’s nearly up (again), and I want to know if I can extend it yet again because I'm not ready to leave. Is that an option?

Unfortunately, it isn’t. The Indonesia eVOA can be extended only once for an additional 30 days. After this extension, if you wish to stay longer, you would need to leave Indonesia and re-enter with a new visa, as the eVOA does not permit a second extension.

I’m heading to Indonesia soon and I’m thinking of getting a visa on arrival. How does this work if I’m doing it online? Do I still need to fill out an application form like a regular visa or do I just need to register on some website?

To apply for an eVOA before landing in Indonesia, you'll still need to fill out an application form, as well as provide a scan of a valid passport and proof of onward travel, and pay the visa fee online. Once it’s approved, you’ll receive your eVOA electronically, which you should print out and carry with you to show at the immigration checkpoint once you arrive in Indonesia.
