Questions?
Can I enter Benin earlier than the visa start date?
Michelle J, USA | July 8, 2024
I’ve been in Togo for the past week and now I’m ready to cross into Benin—much earlier than I originally planned. In my eVisa application I put my entry date as 30th of July but I think I want to go to Benin as early as tomorrow (if possible). Will I have issues with Benin immigration if I try and enter earlier than the date stated on the eVisa?
Martin, iVisa | July 11, 2024
If you attempt to enter Benin earlier than the date stated on your eVisa, you might face difficulties at the border since the eVisa is typically expected to match your travel dates. It’s advisable to stick to the dates specified on your visa to avoid potential entry issues.
The eVisa is missing my middle name. What should I do?
Debbie F, Canada | July 17, 2024
I just realized after getting my Benin eVisa that I left out my middle name, which is on my passport. The eVisa form didn’t make it super clear that it was needed—found out too late. Now I’m worried about entering Benin from Ghana next week. Do you think the missing name will be a problem once I land at Cotonou Airport? I’m Canadian.
Martin, iVisa | July 19, 2024
Omitting your middle name on the eVisa application for Benin might not necessarily be a problem as long as other details match your passport exactly and you can verify your identity with additional documentation if requested. However, for peace of mind, you could contact the nearest Beninese embassy to inquire if an amendment is necessary or if a new application should be submitted.
Can this eVisa be used to enter Benin by land as well?
Luca A, Italy | July 30, 2024
My girlfriend and I started our African trip in East Africa and we’ve made our way to West Africa (flying and using road where possible). We’re currently in Lomé in Togo and want to head to Porto Novo in Benin by public bus. Can we use an eVisa to enter Benin by road? Or do we need a different kind of visa? I should mention that I’m Italian and she’s German.
Cami, iVisa | Aug 2, 2024
You can use the eVisa to enter Benin by road. The Beninese eVisa is valid for entries by air, land, or sea, which means you and your girlfriend can travel from Togo to Porto Novo using public bus with your eVisas, as long as these visas are valid at the time of entry.
My application couldn't be completed due to an error. What now?
What can I do if my Benin e-Visa application has been canceled or rejected?
It is a requirement for tourists intending to travel to Benin to get the Benin e-Visa and apply for a Health Form. This might not be common knowledge among travelers and could represent an issue when entering the country.
Another common mistake is submitting incomplete or inaccurate information, including typos or invalid characters. Applying with iVisa will help you avoid such mistakes since we ensure all the documents you submit are complete and the information is accurate.
