Yes, Australian citizens require a China Tourist Visa to enter China if the stay is for more than 15 days. If you plan on visiting mainland China for less than 15 days, you can enter the country visa-free.

You can choose from 3 visa options: a single-entry visa valid for 90 days, a double-entry visa that's valid for 9 months, and a multiple-entry visa that’s valid for 1 year.
