Canadian citizens can enter the territory of Cuba only if they have a visa, known as a Tourist Card, upon arrival. The card replaces the need to visit an embassy or pre-apply for an embassy visa.
We don't currently offer the Cuba Tourist Card for Canadian citizens, but we do offer the Embassy Registration. To apply for your Tourist Card, we recommend visiting the Government of Canada website for more information.
What are the requirements to enter Cuba?
Unlike many other visas, the Cuba Tourist Card application does not require you to upload any documents. All you need to apply is a valid passport. However, once you arrive in Cuba, you need to present the following documents:
- Valid passport – the passport you have needs to be valid for at least another 6 months from the date of arrival in Cuba. If it is not, you need to renew it before you apply.
- Tourist Card – this is the equivalent of a Cuba visa.
- A flight itinerary both to and from Cuba.
- Travel insurance – If you do not have travel insurance, you need to purchase it once you arrive in Cuba.
How to apply for a Cuba visa for Canadian citizens
The tourist card is included in holiday packages provided by tour operators or airlines providing direct flights from Canada. If you go to Cuba without a tour, on your own, or transit via another country, you are responsible for obtaining a tourist card from a Cuban government office in Canada. You may also buy it at some airports in Canada and in the United States when checking in for your flight.
The document allows you to stay up to 90 days in Cuba, an extension may be granted for an extra 90 days. The document is granted for a single entry.
