The citizens of most countries can visit Ecuador and stay in the country for a maximum duration of 90 days within a period of three hundred and sixty-five days without any visa. The only exception is for the citizens of Peru who can stay in the country for a maximum duration of one hundred and eighty days within a period of 365 days without a visa.

Tourist Visa Policy for Ecuador
Most people don’t need a visa to enter Ecuador as per the Ecuador Visa Policy. This implies that they can simply travel to Ecuador and get a stamp on their passport with the date of arrival & number of days they can stay. You can stay for a maximum duration of 90 days within a period of 365 days with this stamp. The citizens of most of the countries can enter Ecuador without any Visa except for twenty-three countries.
There are twenty-three countries that require a visa to enter Ecuador. For tourism purposes, as per the Ecuador Visa Policy, there are two types of tourist visas.
A Tourist Visa or 12-IX Visa is a travel authorization that allows the citizens of twenty-three visa-required countries to enter Ecuador for tourism purposes and stay for a maximum duration of 90 Days in a year.
Another type of Visa for tourism purposes is the Special Tourist Visa that allows travelers from visa-exempt countries to enter Ecuador and stay for a maximum duration of 180 days within a period of Five Years. This visa can be obtained from an Embassy or Consulate of Ecuador abroad. This is a single-entry tourist visa.
To apply for an Ecuador Tourist Visa, you will need a valid passport, roundtrip tickets of flights, accommodation details, a Certificate of Financial Responsibility stating that you have sufficient funds to have a vacation in Ecuador, bank statements, and travel insurance covering the stay of your trip.

Visa-Not Required
As per the lenient Ecuador Visa Policy, most visitors can travel to Ecuador without applying for a visa. However, when they arrive at the port of entry, they receive a Stamp on their passport. This stamp contains the date of entry and the number of days they can stay in the country. With this stamp, they can stay in the country for a maximum duration of ninety days within a period of three hundred and sixty-five days. Except for twenty-three countries, the citizens of every country can visit Ecuador without any visa requirement.
12-IX Visa
This is a travel authorization that is a must for the citizens of twenty-three visa-required countries. If you are a citizen of one of those countries, you can apply for this tourist visa to visit the country for tourism and leisure activities.
The maximum validity of this travel authorization is 365 Days and the maximum duration during which you can stay in the country is 90 Days.
You can obtain this document by applying to the nearest Ecuador embassy. To apply for this document, you will need a valid passport, information about your hotel reservations, your bank statements proving that you are earning more than $600 every month, a Certificate of Financial Responsibility to state your funding status, passport size photograph, police clearance certificate, and travel insurance covering your stay in Ecuador in case of a medical emergency. You can get travel insurance from any of the private or public companies.

Special Tourist Visa
This is a travel authorization that allows visitors from visa-exempt countries to stay in Ecuador for a maximum duration of 180 Days. You can apply for this visa once every five years.
To apply for this Visa, you have to visit the nearest Ecuador embassy with the required documents. You must provide proof of your accommodation in Ecuador, return flight tickets, Certificate of Financial Responsibility, bank statements proving you are making more than six hundred dollars every month, and travel insurance to cover your stay in the country.
