There are two Ethiopia eVisa types. One is valid for 30 days and the other is valid for 90 days.

The validity of an Ethiopia e-Visa starts from the date you intend to enter Ethiopia, not from the document’s date of issue.

To apply for this eVisa, you need to have a passport with at least 6 months of validity from the date you intend to enter Ethiopia.

Only nationals from Kenya and Djibouti don’t need this eVisa to visit Ethiopia.

You don’t need a visa to transit through Ethiopia, except if you plan to leave the transit area from the airport.

You can use this type of visa ONLY if you plan to arrive by airplane at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (at the moment, the e-Visa is not valid at any other border posts).

Do I need the eVisa if I’m just transiting through Ethiopia?
You don’t require an e-visa if you’re transiting through Ethiopia. It is important to note that if you plan on leaving the airport transit area to visit Addis Ababa, you will need to apply for a visa online.

COVID-19: Ethiopia entry requirements
Since November 2022, the Government of Ethiopia has removed all COVID entry restrictions for all travelers. This means that you won't need to present a COVID vaccination, testing, or quarantine.

What can I do if my Ethiopia eVisa application has been canceled or rejected?
iVisa supports every step of the digital application and carefully reviews your documents. It’s unlikely you will get a rejection. Still, the Ethiopian government could deny your application. In this case, you will receive a full refund of the iVisa processing fee for the rejected applicants. However, the government fees can’t be returned.
Depending on the rejection cause, you could re-apply with iVisa and get your Ethiopia eVisa as soon as possible.
If I cancel my online order, will my fees be refunded?
iVisa has a flexible refund policy, and as travel plans could change at any moment, these are the circumstances to obtain a refund if you cancel your order:
If the application hasn’t reached the team for review or the immigration services haven't received it yet, you will get a credit for the amount of the iVisa processing fee and the visa cost.
If our team has checked your application but hasn’t sent it to the government for approval, you can opt for a credit of the government fee.
If the government has received your application or the visa is ready for you, you can’t get credit at this point.
