Summary
  • New Israel ETA requirement: Visa-exempt travelers must apply for the Israel Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA-IL) before visiting.
  • Simple online application process: Travelers can apply via the iVisa platform or app.
  • Essential info: An ETA is valid for two years (or when your passport expires) and gives multiple entries of up to 90 days per visit.

Visa-exempt travelers to Israel now require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA-IL).

An Israel ETA will be required for all travelers who don't need a visa for Israel from 2025. You can now apply for this ETA through our platform or mobile app.

We’re here to help you understand the Israel ETA requirements and make planning your trip to Israel stress-free.

What is the new Israel ETA?

The Israel Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), officially known as the ETA-IL, is a digital authorization that is now required for visa-exempt travelers planning to visit Israel.

Unlike a traditional visa, the Israel ETA does not involve an embassy visit or a physical stamp in your passport.

This ETA system is part of a larger trend where countries screen travelers before they arrive, thus increasing security at borders. For example, the United States has the ESTA, Canada requires an eTA, and Europe is rolling out ETIAS in 2025.

Designed specifically for short-term visits, the Israel ETA allows visa-exempt travelers to enter Israel for tourism, business, and other non-work-related activities.

💡 Femke Strietman, iVisa travel expert, says:

"Applicants should apply for the ETA at least 72 hours before their intended travel date to Israel."

Once approved, the ETA allows for multiple entries into Israel and remains valid for up to two years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. Each visit can last up to 90 days.

Who needs to apply for an Israel ETA?

All visa-exempt travelers planning a trip to Israel must now apply for the Israel ETA.

If you're from one of the countries that previously didn't require a visa to enter Israel, you’ll need to secure this authorization before you travel.

The countries whose citizens are eligible to apply for the Israel ETA include:

  • Europe: United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, and others.

  • Americas: United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and others.

  • Asia: Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, and others.

  • Oceania: Australia, New Zealand, and others.

  • Africa: South Africa, Mauritius, and others.

For specific info about your nationality, check your eligibility on our platform and apply instantly online.

💡iVisa travel expert, Femke Strietman, adds:

"It’s important to note that if you get a new passport, or if there are changes to your name, gender, or country of citizenship, you’ll need to apply for a new ETA."

Why choose us for your Israel ETA application

Our goal is to help you avoid the stress that comes with visa paperwork. We offer:

  • An easy-to-use application form that takes less than 15 minutes to complete.

  • An expert review to make sure it’s error-free, which helps increase your chances of getting your ETA approved and avoid issues, given the newness of this document and increased scrutiny at Israel borders.

  • More flexible and secure payment options than the government portal, such as credit or debit cards, PayPal, and Venmo.

Other important entry rules for Israel

While the ETA is quick and easy to get, Israel has strict border security measures. An ETA-IL does not guarantee entry to the country.

Check and consider all entry rules for Israel in this handy overview and expert tips before you go and avoid issues at immigration.
