Kenya ETA FAQs
1. How long is the Kenya ETA valid for Filipino travelers?
The Kenya ETA is valid for 90 days from the date of issue and allows one entry into Kenya. Filipino travelers can stay in the country for up to 90 consecutive days. If you leave and want to return, you'll need to apply for a new ETA unless you're re-entering from an East African Community (EAC) country and your ETA is still valid.
2. When should I apply for a Kenya ETA from the Philippines?
Filipino citizens should apply for the Kenya ETA at least 3 days before departure, as applications take a few business days to process. You can submit your application as early as 90 days before your planned travel date, giving you plenty of time to prepare. Applying early helps avoid last-minute issues and gives you peace of mind before your trip.
3. Can I extend or re-enter Kenya with a Kenya ETA?
The Kenya ETA is single-entry only and cannot be extended. If you plan to leave Kenya and come back, you’ll need to apply for a new ETA unless you're re-entering from a neighboring EAC country (like Uganda or Tanzania) during your ETA’s validity period. In that case, re-entry may be allowed without reapplying.
4. What documents do Filipinos need to apply for a Kenya ETA?
To apply for the Kenya ETA, Filipino travelers need the following documents:
-
A Philippine passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the arrival date
-
A recent passport photo with a white background
-
Proof of accommodation in Kenya (hotel booking or invitation letter)
-
A flight confirmation (if arriving by air), or cruise/travel itinerary (if arriving by sea or land)
5. Is the Kenya ETA the same as a visa on arrival?
No. The Kenya ETA is not the same as a visa on arrival. Filipino travelers must apply online and get approved before entering Kenya; you cannot get this authorization after landing. If you're only transiting through Kenya and not leaving the airport, you don’t need to apply for an ETA.
6. Can I apply for the Kenya ETA using my mobile phone?
Yes. You can download the iVisa app, which works smoothly on any device.
