What is the Malaysia Customs Declaration Form?
The Malaysia Customs Declaration Form is not a visa but a document that travelers by air must fill out to declare goods and cash when arriving in the country. It's also known as Customs Form No. 7. It is part of the customs act under Malaysian law.

Who must fill out the customs declaration to visit Malaysia?
Each person arriving by air who has the following to declare must fill out the form:
- Dutiable and prohibited goods (find out which goods fall under this category on the website of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department RMCD).
- Cash, bearer negotiable instruments, or other monetary instruments (such as checks, bills, or money orders) exceeding USD 10,000 or equivalent.
Absolute prohibited goods will be seized and forfeited. False declarations can lead to fines or even convictions, so it's essential to fill out the form honestly.
Those with nothing to declare do not have to fill out the form.
You do not need to declare these goods:
- Wine, beer, spirit, or malt liquor (1 liter max.)
- Clothing items (3 items max.)
- Shoes (1 pair max.)
- Prepared food with a total value not exceeding RM150
- Portable electrical equipment or battery-operated appliances for personal care and hygiene (1 unit max.)
- Any other goods apart from the ones above, tubes and tires excluded, costing no more than RM500 at the land or sea border and no more than RM1,000 at the air border
How long is the Malaysia Customs Declaration Form valid?
It's a Single entry travel document.

No, those arriving in or leaving Malaysia through the transit area at the airport do not need to fill out this form. However, as soon as you leave the transit area to enter Malaysia, you will be asked for the form.
