Last updated: February 2023

Each year, Mexico receives thousands of Colombian visitors. Whether it is for business, studies, or tourism, if you're a Colombian passport holder, some extra rules apply for you to enter Mexico.

In April 2022, the immigration authorities of Mexico announced that all Colombian travelers arriving in the country by air travel are required to complete the online Mexico Pre-Registration Form before departure. The good news is that you can complete the form 100% online, through iVisa.

You will find below all the information you need about the Mexico Electronic Pre-Registration System and how to apply fast and easily with iVisa.

What is the Mexico Electronic Pre-Registration System for Colombians?

Before arriving in Mexico by air, Colombian nationals can declare their purpose of travel and provide their personal information with this electronic travel authorization called Mexico Pre-Registration Form, also known as the Forma Migratoria Múltiple (FMM). The purpose of this immigration form is to create a quicker and more efficient customs experience for Colombians.

You'll be denied entry to Mexico if you do not have the pre-registration so make sure to show it upon arrival.

Please note that Mexico Pre-Registration Form is not a visa. Citizens of Colombia do not need a Mexican visa to travel to the country for tourism purposes. However, if you want to live, study or work in Mexico, please apply for the appropriate visa at the nearest Mexican consulate or embassy.

You can fill out the Mexico Pre-Registration Form 100% online with iVisa! Don’t be afraid of rejections because our iVisa team reviews your application to ensure it is error-free, so you can have an application that perfectly meets the government standards.

Who must complete the online pre-registration system to visit Mexico?

As mentioned, all Colombian passport holders must fill out an online pre-registration form to visit Mexico by air. This also applies to temporary and permanent residents of Mexico, as well as students, business travelers, and tourists.

How long can I stay in the country after pre-registration?

The pre-registration document for Colombians is valid for a Single Entry. Every time you come back to Colombia, you must fill out the form again. Colombians can stay in Mexico for up to 180 days Per Entry or as long as their valid visa or residency permit allows if they have one.
