With its dreamlike deserts, dramatic coastlines, and wildlife-packed safaris, Namibia is a bucket-list destination for many Luxembourg citizens. The good news is: Luxembourg passport holders are eligible for both a visa on arrival AND a pre-approved eVisa.
However, many travelers are still denied entry because they arrive without the right documents. Here’s how to make sure that doesn’t happen to you.
Do Luxembourg citizens need a visa for Namibia?
Yes, a visa is required for Luxembourg passport holders to enter Namibia. Don’t risk getting turned away at the border - come prepared.
Two visa options for Luxembourg citizens
You have two choices to legally enter Namibia:
1. Namibia eVisa (pre-approved, online – recommended)
The eVisa is the most convenient and secure way to get your visa before you fly. It helps you avoid long queues or possible rejection at the airport.
How to apply:
Submit the following:
- A passport valid for at least 6 months
- Proof of accommodation (e.g., hotel booking)
- A return or onward ticket
💡 iVisa expert Femke Strietman says:
“Applying for the eVisa in advance is the smartest move - especially if you’re traveling overland or during the busy dry season.”
2. Visa on Arrival (available, but not risk-free)
Luxembourg nationals can also get a visa on arrival at major entry points. But if you’re missing paperwork, you may be refused entry.
What you’ll need at the border:
- A valid Luxembourg passport
- Hotel confirmation or invitation letter
- Return/onward flight ticket
- Proof of sufficient funds
- Travel insurance
- Visa fee: around NAD 1,080 (approx. €52), payable in cash or card

Common reasons Luxembourg travelers are denied entry
Even with visa eligibility, here’s what can get you turned away:
❌ Blurry or incomplete passport scans
❌ Arriving at an unsupported border
❌ Applying last minute
❌ Submitting documents only in French or German** - make sure they’re translated to English
💡 Expert tip from Femke Strietman:
“Always print your documents. Even with an eVisa, paper copies can be a lifesaver at land crossings where tech issues are common.”
