Qatar delights tourists with its modern architecture, rich culture, and Arabic tradition, becoming one of the main destinations in the Middle East. In 2022, the international interest in the country is even bigger, with the FIFA World Cup taking place in the stadiums of Doha, Al Wakrah, and Al Khor. Therefore, travelers from around the world who will visit Qatar to enjoy the matches must be informed about the territory's travel requirements, such as the Qatar Entry Registration Form, International Health Insurance, and Qatar visa.
Some measures in place are the COVID-19 test requirements, for example, the Ehteraz, an entry form developed to track cases of coronavirus easily and keep the disease under control. Mandatory health insurance is part of public health and medical infrastructure in the country and intends to create a healthcare system where everyone can access medical care in Qatar.
Besides international health insurance, some nationalities will need a Qatar visa for this trip. But the tourist visa is very easy to obtain and, for most nationalities, you don't have to apply in advance.
In this article, you'll learn the visitors' entry requirements, the law about mandatory health insurance, and what the Qatar visa policy includes. Keep reading and prepare yourself for the trip!
Qatar Entry Registration Form for Visitors
Qatar's government developed the Ehteraz Entry Registration Form as a COVID-19 measure, helping health services to track new cases and easily track travelers in quarantine.
The pre-travel registration is optional for citizens and residents of Qatar. Still, the Ministry of Public Health recommends that all citizens entering Qatar pre-register their information to collaborate with the healthcare services and to have a smooth arrival, especially those traveling with unvaccinated family members who may require a hotel or home quarantine.
Visitors who hold either the NHS UK COVID Pass or the EU COVPass (the digital COVID Vaccination Certificate for EU nationals) are also exempt from this requirement to pre-register.
For all other tourists, filling out the document is recommended, and it's mandatory in case you are unvaccinated. The good news is that filling out the Ehteraz Registration Form is simple. Additionally, you can count on iVisa services to quickly submit your information on the application page.
You'll fill out the information and receive your application approval at the e-mail address registered during your application. You'll also have to download the official Ehteraz mobile app and login into your new user account, detailing the pre-approval information.
Once you arrive at the Qatar airport, you have to activate the Ehteraz app on your mobile phone with an international sim card or wifi connection.

Health Insurance Qatar: What you need to know about health services
You have everything you need to know about the Qatar entry form. Now, it's time to get informed about mandatory health insurance. The Healthcare Services Law has been valid in Qatar since May 4th, 2022. This Health Insurance Law is a measure to guarantee access to health insurance coverage for non Qatari employees and their families, as well as foreign visitors for the duration of their stay in the country, allowing them to receive medical services.
For Qatar citizens and residents, public health insurance is subsidized by the government. Even so, some people prefer to take out additional private health insurance, which has more comprehensive coverage and hospital services in Qatar. In addition, private hospitals and clinics are more than half of the healthcare providers in the country, so they often offer faster and better healthcare services compared to public hospitals.
If you plan to work in Qatar, you don't have to worry about getting private health insurance. According to the Health Insurance law, employers must guarantee access to basic health insurance coverage for non-Qatari employees and their family members.
Otherwise, for tourism purposes travelers have to pay for health insurance services in Qatar.
Can I get International Health Insurance in Qatar?
Visitors don't have access to public health insurance in Qatar, so they need private medical insurance. Following the Health Insurance Law, non-Qatari residents must opt for a private insurance plan with benefit packages and premiums for visitors and tourists.
Since private health insurance is requested for travel to the country, there are a lot of registered insurance companies to offer this service, with diverse options for additional healthcare services.
Qatar Health Insurance: Price
The insurance plan varies depending on the benefits and treatment covered. Therefore, the private health insurance costs will also change according to your chosen service.
Additionally, the health insurance price will depend on the coverage period, which has to be the same as the time of stay in the country. So, you must check the options and insurance policies with insurance health services in Qatar.
Qatar Visa on Arrival
Besides the Ehteraz Registration form and the Health Insurance, some nationalities require a Qatar visa. If you're traveling for the FIFA World Cup or other tourism purposes, check if you are one of the almost 100 nationalities eligible for a Qatar Visa on Arrival using our Visa Checker tool. This tourist visa doesn't require you to apply at a Qatar embassy in advance. Instead, you can apply on arrival at the airport.
Otherwise, if you are visiting Qatar for business or any other motivation besides tourism, you need to go to the nearest Qatar embassy to apply for the document.
The validity of the Qatar visa will depend on your nationality. Some travelers can stay 180 days; others can apply for 30 days and an extension for 30 days. So check on the Qatar website what Qatar visa your country is eligible for.
Don't forget to submit the Qatar Entry Registration Form online. Have a nice trip to Qatar!
