I’ll be flying from Miami to Paramaribo, but I’ve got a lengthy layover before I head on to Georgetown. I’m thinking of stepping out to explore a bit of Suriname during my stop. Before I pay for the Suriname Entry Fee, I want to know if it covers just a quick transit or if I can use it for a short city tour during my layover. Can I use it for a few hours of sightseeing?

Passengers who have a layover in Suriname and want to leave the airport do not need to pay the Suriname Entry Fee. You will need to apply for a Suriname Transit Visa instead, which is valid for 72 hours. This should be more than enough time for a short city tour. To apply for this transit visa, please visit the VFS Global Suriname website: https://suriname.vfsevisa.com/suriname/online/home/index.

I’m planning a trip from Amsterdam to Suriname this summer and got a bit confused with the visa stuff. There’s an 'eTourist Card' and an 'Entry Fee' listed. What’s the difference? I just want to make sure I have everything I need to enter Paramaribo.

The eTourist Card and Entry Fee for Suriname serve different purposes. The eTourist Card is specifically for tourists who plan to stay in Suriname and is valid for a single entry up to 90 days. On the other hand, the Entry Fee is a broader requirement that applies to all travelers entering Suriname, whether they need a visa or not.

I'm heading to Suriname next week and I'm flying into Zorg en Hoop airport. I've done the online application and got this entry fee voucher in my email. I’m not sure whether this voucher is the same as the e-visa. Or is it something different? Can I just show this at the airport, or do I need to fill out another form or something?

The Entry Fee voucher you received via email after your online application is needed for entry into Suriname; it’s separate from an e-visa. If you’re traveling with your Brazilian passport, you do not need an e-visa to enter Suriname for up to 90 days. Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in Suriname. It’s also important to have a yellow fever vaccination certificate, accommodation details, proof of sufficient funds to cover your trip and return flight details. Be ready to present all this to immigration authorities at the airport.
