Why Register with the Embassy

Travel Registration is a service provided by the government. This service allows you to record information about your upcoming trip abroad to the Department of State so it can be used to assist you in case of an emergency. People residing abroad can also get routine information from their nearest embassy or consulate if registered.

What you need to know

  • Nationals of Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Laos can apply online for an R.O.C. Travel Authorization Certificate and once they get it, they are able to the entry.

  • The holder of a R.O.C. Travel Authorization Certificate is valid for 90 days. It’s allowed to have multiple entries within these 90 days. People who got the R.O.C. Travel Authorization Certificate will be allowed to stay for up to 14 days per entry, starting from the day after arrival.

  • If the holder wishes to apply for another R.O.C. Travel Authorization Certificate, they must do so seven days prior to the expiry of the current certificate.

  • Upon arrival, the visitor is required to present the Travel Authorization Certificate together with the Resident Card or the visa that you registered, and return ticket for immigration inspection.

  • This Travel Authorization Certificate is valid for multiple entries. If not utilized before its expiry date, a new Travel Authorization Certificate must be applied for.

  • The Travel Authorization Certificate is required for both arrival and departure immigration inspection in Taiwan.

  • The applicant must possess at least one of the following documents issued by Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, any of EU and Schengen countries, the United Kingdom, or the United States: a valid resident or permanent resident card, a valid entry visa (may be an electronic visa) or a resident card or visa that has expired less than 10 years prior to the date of arrival in Taiwan.

  • The applicant must possess an entry visa or resident card issued by the R.O.C. at any point in the past 10 years and must have no record of immigration irregularities or law violations in Taiwan.

  • Online applications can only be made by people holding valid regular passports. Persons holding temporary, emergency, or informal passports, or travel documents other than a passport, cannot submit online applications.

  • Every traveler requires a Health Declaration in order to enter Taiwan.

What is the Taiwan Travel Authorization Certificate?

The National Immigration Agency developed the Taiwan Travel Authorization Certificate to make it easier for some nationals to visit Taiwan. Also known as the ROC Travel Authorization Certificate, the document works as a Multiple entry visa, valid for 90 days after arrival. Among the requirements is that you must already have other visas issued.

It's pretty easy to apply online. The traveler only has to provide some personal and travel details, and after processing, the document arrives by email. The applicant can count on iVisa support throughout the entire process.

Who can apply for a Travel Authorization Certificate?

The National Immigration Agency allows nationals of Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam to apply online for a Taiwan Travel Authorization Certificate (ROC Travel Authorization Certificate).

The applicant must have at least one of the following documents issued by Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, any of the Schengen countries, the United Kingdom, or the United States: a valid resident or permanent resident card, or a valid entry visa (it may be an electronic visa).

A Taiwan resident card, entry visa, or alien resident certificate issued that has expired less than 10 years before the date of arrival in Taiwan is also acceptable. Another requirement is that the applicant has never been employed as a blue-collar worker in Taiwan.

How long is the Taiwan Travel Authorization Certificate valid?

No, it doesn’t. Taiwan has lifted all COVID-19 testing requirements for travelers.

Does Taiwan have COVID-19 Vaccine Requirements?

No, according to the Bureau of Consular Affairs, you don't need to be vaccinated to enter the country. COVID-19 vaccination passports are not mandatory for entry.

What is the difference between the Taiwan Travel Authorization and Taiwan eVisa?

Both are electronic documents that allow entry into Taiwan, so eligibility is the most significant difference. Only six nationalities can apply for Travel Authorization, while the Taiwan eVisa is available for more than 15 nationals or anyone with an e-code from their host organizations in Taiwan.
