What is a US B1/B2 Visa?

How many entries does the B1/B2 Visa allow?

The B1/B2 Visa typically allows multiple entries into the US and can be valid for up to 10 years, depending on the consulate’s decision. However, the validity can vary, and you should always confirm the specific validity granted to you.

How long can I stay in the US with a B1/B2 Visa?

Upon each entry, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers will determine how long you can stay. Generally, travelers are allowed a stay of up to 180 days per entry, but this is at the discretion of the CBP officer.

How to apply for a US B1/B2 Visa from Jamaica

Here’s a step-by-step guide to applying for the US B1/B2 Visa from Jamaica:

1.Complete the DS-160 form: This is the online visa application form, which you can access via the US Department of State website.

2.Schedule your visa interview and pay for the visa: This is done on the official US scheduling and payment website.

3.Attend the visa interview: On the interview day, carry your application form and the required documents. A consular officer will ask about your travel purpose and financial status. They will decide your visa eligibility based on US law.

If approved, your visa will be issued, and you will be notified when to collect your passport with the visa attached.

What do I need for the DS-160 interview application for the B1/B2 Visa?

When attending your visa interview, ensure you bring the following documents:

  • Valid passport: Must be valid for at least six months beyond your planned stay in the US.

  • DS-160 confirmation page: Proof that you completed the application.

  • Visa application fee receipt: Proof of payment.

  • Passport-size photo: Recent photo that meets US visa requirements.

  • Travel itinerary: Flight and accommodation details.

  • Proof of financial means: Bank statements or other documents showing you can cover the costs of your trip.
