How to apply for a US B1/B2 Visa from the Dominican Republic

Here’s a step-by-step guide for Dominican Republic citizens applying for the US B1/B2 Visa:

1.Start your application by filling out the DS-160 online form. This is a detailed application, so make sure to take your time and provide accurate information. You can find the form on the US Department of State website. After completion, save and print the confirmation page, which you’ll need for your interview.

2.Once your DS-160 form is submitted, head to the US Visa Information and Appointment Services website to schedule your interview and pay the visa fee. Remember to book early since interviews can fill up quickly, especially during peak travel seasons.

3.On the day of your interview, carry all the necessary documents, including your passport, DS-160 confirmation page, visa fee payment receipt, and any additional documents that support your travel plans and financial situation. The visa interview will be at the US Embassy in Santo Domingo.

Once your application has been processed, you’ll be informed when to collect your passport. If your application is successful, the visa will be affixed to your passport.

iVisa pro tip: Consular officers need to feel confident that you’ll return to the Dominican Republic after your trip. Bring documents showing strong ties to your home country, such as property ownership, stable employment, or family connections. This increases the likelihood of your visa being approved.
