Visa Excempt "There are certain categories of individuals who may be exempt from obtaining a Canadian student visa to study at a designated learning institution in Canada. These include:

What is the Canada Study Permit?
A Canadian Student Visa, also known as a Study Permit, is a document issued by the Canadian government that allows international students to study at designated learning institutions (DLIs) in Canada.
What can you do with the Canada Study Permit?
-
Study at a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada.
-
Work on-campus or off-campus for up to 20 hours per week during regular academic sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks, such as summer or winter holidays.
-
Stay in Canada for the duration of your study program as long as you remain enrolled and actively pursue your studies.
-
Apply to renew your study permit from within Canada if you wish to continue studying in Canada after your initial permit expires.
What can’t you do with the Canada Study Permit?
Certain limitations and restrictions are also associated with a Canadian student visa. For example, you can’t:
-
Work in Canada without a valid work permit outside the limits of 20 hours per week during regular academic sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks.
-
Attend a non-DLI educational institution.
-
Engage in any activity prohibited by the conditions of your study permit, such as working for an employer not authorized to hire international students or engaging in any form of unauthorized study.
Who can apply for the Canada Study Permit?
International students who wish to study at a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada can apply for a Canadian Student Visa.
Can minors apply for the Canada Study Permit?
Minors who wish to apply for a Canadian Student Visa must meet the exact eligibility requirements as adult applicants. Additionally, they must also meet the following criteria:

-
Provide proof of funds to cover the minor's living expenses and return transportation.
-
Provide a letter of acceptance from a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada.
The custodian in Canada must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a foreign national authorized to work or study in Canada. They must also be at least 18 and have no criminal record.
The custodian's role is limited to ensuring the minor's well-being and doesn’t include legal custody or guardianship. If a minor stays with a host family or in a homestay arrangement, the host family must also be screened and approved by the Canadian government.
Minors may also be required to provide additional documentation, such as a birth certificate or passport, and may need to undergo a medical examination or provide a police clearance.
