Travel to Indonesia

Long flights are tiring enough without the added stress of lining up for a visa after landing. That’s why more travelers are switching to the Indonesia electronic Visa on Arrival (eVOA). Apply before you go, and you’ll walk off the plane knowing your entry’s already sorted.

With us, you don’t just fill out a form. Your application gets a careful review, and you’ll receive updates along the way so everything’s ready when it matters most.

What is the Indonesia eVOA and who needs it?

The Indonesia eVOA is a digital version of the visa you used to get at the airport. This visa is perfect for tourism, family visits, or short business trips. It typically allows you to stay in Indonesia for up to 30 days.

Travelers from over 90 countries are eligible for the eVOA. That includes passport holders from the US, UK, Australia, Germany, Canada, and more. If your country is on the visa-exempt list, you may not need it at all for short stays. But if you're not sure, it's worth checking ahead of time.

What to know about Bali’s tourist tax

Travelers arriving in Bali are now required to pay a tourism levy of IDR 150,000, which is about US$10. This is a government-mandated entry fee designed to support local sustainability initiatives.

You can pay it online before departure via the official Love Bali website or app, or take care of it at a kiosk after landing at the airport or seaport. If you pay online, there's a small additional processing fee of about 30 cents, and you'll receive a QR code voucher by email. Keep it handy, as officials may ask to scan it at entry.

The tax applies to most international visitors, though some categories, like diplomatic travelers, long-stay permit holders, and airline crew, are exempt. If you're not sure whether you qualify for an exemption, it's best to assume you'll need to pay.

“Bring small denominations of cash in Indonesian rupiah,” says Nicole Grimm, an iVisa travel reporter. “ATMs at Bali airport often run out or charge high fees, and taxis or food stalls may not accept cards. Having IDR 100,000 and 50,000 notes on hand makes things easier your first day.”

Why travelers use iVisa instead of the government portal

We’re not the Indonesian government; we’re a private visa service provider and for the last decade, we’ve helped more than one million travelers worldwide receive their travel documents on the first try.

Applying through a government site can work, but many travelers find it frustrating. Forms can be unclear, the site may time out, and if you make a mistake, there’s no one to flag it before it’s submitted. Here’s what makes us different:

✅We review your documents before they’re submitted

✅You get real-time updates through your personal dashboard

✅Support is available in multiple languages

✅We help with reapplications and refunds when eligible

“Using iVisa to get my Indonesia eVOA was worth every penny. I avoided last-minute stress, and everything was ready before I left.” — Sarah K, Australia

Indonesia eVOA FAQs

1. Do I need a visa to travel to Indonesia?

It depends on your nationality. Many travelers need an eVOA. Some can enter visa-free. Always check the current rules before your trip.

2. How long does it take to get the eVOA?

Most approvals arrive within 24 hours. We recommend applying at least a week before you travel.

3. Can I extend my eVOA?

Yes, in many cases, the eVOA can be extended once for another 30 days.

4. What if my eVOA is rejected?

If your application is rejected for a fixable reason, we can help you reapply. In eligible cases, we offer refunds.

5. Is the Indonesia eVOA the same as a tourist visa?

Not exactly. The eVOA is a type of tourist visa for short stays, but Indonesia also offers other tourist visa options. If you're eligible, the eVOA is the easiest way to visit for tourism, business, or family purposes for up to 30 days. If you’re not eligible, you can apply for the Visit Visa B211A, which is also a tourist visa.
