Summary
  • Kenya now requires an eTA: As of January 2024, all UAE residents must apply for a Kenya Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before departure - visa on arrival is no longer available.

  • Fully online process: The eTA application is completed online in minutes. You’ll need your passport, travel itinerary, and accommodation details.

  • eTA is mandatory for boarding: You must present an approved eTA at check-in - airlines will not allow you to board without it.

If you’re a UAE resident planning a trip to Kenya, it’s important to know that as of January 2024, Kenya no longer issues tourist visas. Instead, all travelers must apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before their trip.

This new system replaces the previous e-Visa process and applies to UAE nationals and residents alike.

Do UAE residents need a visa to enter Kenya?

Not anymore. Kenya has replaced all traditional visa categories with an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) system. You must apply for an eTA online and receive approval before boarding your flight.

Kenya eTA facts at a glance

Type: Electronic travel authorization (not a visa)

Entry: Single-entry

Validity: 90 days from date of issue

Maximum stay: Up to 90 days per visit

Not available on arrival – must be completed before departure from the UAE

Kenya eTA requirements for UAE residents

To apply for a Kenya eTA from Dubai or elsewhere in the UAE, you’ll need:

  • A passport valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date
  • A recent passport-sized photo
  • Your travel itinerary (including flight booking details)
  • Accommodation confirmation (e.g., hotel reservation or host details)
  • A valid email address
  • Credit or debit card to pay the eTA fee

Optional but recommended:
