If you're reading this, your trip to Myanmar may be just around the corner, and you're likely trying to get your travel documentation ready.

In September 2014, Myanmar introduced the Tourist eVisa system, making it easier for travelers, including Indian nationals, to get their travel documentation without visiting a consulate or embassy.

However, there are a few key requirements to be aware of, and we’ve outlined them for you here.

Do Indian citizens need a Myanmar eVisa?

Yes, Indian nationals need a Myanmar Visa to enter the country, but you don’t need a paper visa. The Myanmar eVisa is a digital travel document that makes the process much easier.

You can apply for the eVisa if you plan to arrive at Yangon, Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw International airports, or one of five land border checkpoints: Tachileik, Myawaddy, Kawthaung, Tamu-Moreh, or Rih Khaw Dar-Zokhawthar.

If you are traveling for business purposes, apply for the Myanmar Business eVisa instead.

Difficulty rating: 13/100

Applying for the Myanmar eVisa is relatively straightforward. You’ll need to answer 18 questions and provide three key documents: a passport page, proof of accommodation, and an applicant’s photo. There is no in-person procedure, and the average waiting time for approval is around 3 days.

How to apply for a Myanmar eVisa

Follow these steps to apply for your Myanmar eVisa through us:

  1. Complete the application form: Fill out your personal and travel details on our website here or through the iVisa mobile app.

  2. Review your information: Ensure everything matches your passport, especially your arrival airport or land checkpoint.

"Only specific entry points are accepted for eVisa holders, so double-check your travel itinerary to avoid delays at the border," advises Cynthia Oliwa, our travel journalist.

  3. Submit your documents and payment: Upload the required documents (passport page, proof of accommodation, and photo) and complete the payment process.

"I was nervous about navigating the eVisa process for Myanmar, but iVisa made it so smooth. It was great to know everything was handled securely and professionally!" shares Priya from New Delhi.

How long can I stay in Myanmar with an eVisa?

The Myanmar Tourist eVisa allows you to stay in the country for up to 28 days in total. It is valid for 90 days after issue, but it only permits a Single entry into Myanmar.
