What you need to know

  • If you are a national from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, you DO NOT need to apply for this Visa, as long as your intended stay in the country is less than 14 days, and if you will enter and depart from Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw International Airports. Now, If you would like to stay in Myanmar for more than 14 days or if you want to enter or exit from ANY of the land border checkpoints, then you must apply for the eVisa you need.

  • Myanmar Tourist e-Visa holders are allowed to stay in Myanmar for a maximum of 28 days in total in Single entry.

  • The Myanmar e-Visa is valid for 90 days after issued.

  • Your passport must have at least 6 months of validity from the planned date of entry and one blank page.

  • The digital photo for your application cannot be more than 3 months old.

  • Foreign travelers need COVID-19 medical insurance.

Traveling with children:

  • For children over 7 years old, or for those who already have an individual passport, the parent or legal guardian must apply for their e-Visa.

  • Children under 7 years old can travel to Myanmar without the need for an individual e-Visa if they meet the following requirements:

  1. The child must be accompanied by the parent/guardian.
  2. The child must be included in the parent/guardian’s passport.
  3. The details of the child must be included in the parent/guardian’s e-Visa.

IMPORTANT: Remember that when you travel with the e-Visa you can ONLY enter Myanmar through the following ports of entry:

The Myanmar Tourist eVisa is an official document allowing entry to Myanmar, issued electronically by the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

This electronic visa system has been available for travelers since 1 September 2014. Foreign nationals can apply for a tourism or business visa, without ever stepping into a Myanmar embassy. The Myanmar electronic visa (eVisa) is also known as the eVisa Approval Letter, and it is a mandatory travel requirement for foreign nationals from qualifying countries who wish to visit the Republic of Myanmar for tourism purposes.

Due to the current health emergency, travelers carrying tourist visas can only enter Myanmar through Yangon International Airport.

If you are visiting Myanmar via cruise or boat, please contact your travel agent or your nearest Myanmar embassy for a pre-arranged visa on arrival, as you cannot use the Myanmar Visa to enter the country via seaport.

How long is the Myanmar Tourist Visa valid for?

The Myanmar Visa is valid for 90 days after issued. It is a Single entry visa and allows a maximum stay of 28 days in total within the 90-day validity window.

How do I apply for the Myanmar Tourist Visa online?

Applying for your tourist visa won’t take you longer than 15 minutes. You just need to fill out an online form with your personal information and the details of your trip.

Traveling with minors: Do children need to apply for a visa to enter Myanmar?

For minors over 7 years old, or for those who already have an individual passport, the parent or legal guardian must apply separately for their tourist visa.

Minors under 7 years old can travel to Myanmar without the need for an individual visa if they meet the following requirements:

Do I need a tourist Visa if I’m transiting through Myanmar?

Only if you wish to leave the transit area. If you remain in the transit area at the airport and have a valid passport and an onward ticket, then you won’t need to apply for a tourist or transit visa.

What are the visa-exempt countries?
