Planning a trip from South Korea to Namibia? With its surreal landscapes, wildlife safaris, and rich culture, Namibia is a must-visit destination. The great news is: South Korean citizens are eligible for both a visa on arrival AND a pre-approved eVisa.
However, some travelers are still denied entry because they arrive unprepared. Here's how to avoid this.
Do South Koreans need a visa for Namibia?
Yes, South Koreans passport holders need a visa to enter Namibia. Not having a visa can result in getting stuck at the border or being turned away.
Two Namibia visa options for South Korean passport holders
South Korean citizens have two ways to get a Namibian visa:
1. Pre-approved Namibia eVisa (recommended)
Applying online before you travel is the safest and smoothest option. You can avoid delays or the risk of being denied a visa on arrival.
How to apply:
Apply via Namibia’s official eVisa portal or iVisa’s platform or app
Submit:
- Valid passport (6+ months validity)
- Proof of accommodation
- Return or onward flight
💡 iVisa expert Femke Strietman says:
“Applying for the eVisa before you leave is safer and faster, especially if you’re planning to cross land borders or travel during busy seasons.”
2. Visa on Arrival
Still available for South Koreans at select ports of entry, but not guaranteed if you’re missing key documents.
What you need to bring:
- Valid South Korean passport
- Hotel booking or invitation letter
- Return or onward flight
- Proof of funds
- Travel insurance
- Visa fee of about NAD 1,080 (approx. KRW 93,000), payable in cash/card

Common reasons South Koreans are denied entry to Namibia
Being eligible doesn’t mean automatic entry. Travelers are often refused for reasons like:
❌ Blurry or incomplete uploads – make sure your passport scan is sharp and all pages are included
❌ Arriving at the wrong border – not all border posts support visa on arrival
❌ Applying too late – apply at least a week in advance to avoid last-minute panic
❌ Documents only in Korean – ensure your documents are translated to English
💡 Femke Strietman, iVisa travel expert, recommends:
“We recommend to print everything. Even if you applied online, having physical copies of your documents can help at land crossings where the internet or systems may be down."
