Summary
  • Visa on arrival ends May 30, 2025 – Saudi citizens must apply online in advance.
  • Essential documents include flight details, accommodation, and recent bank statements.
  • Biometric screening at Nigerian airports – expect fingerprinting and a photo.

If you're a Saudi citizen planning to visit Nigeria, you must now apply for an eVisa before departure. The visa-on-arrival option was discontinued from May 30, 2025, and arriving without pre-approval could lead to denied entry.

This guide explains how to apply for the Nigeria eVisa online, what to expect on arrival, and which documents are required.

Do Saudi nationals need a visa for Nigeria?

Yes. Saudi Arabian passport holders must get a Nigeria eVisa to visit Nigeria for business, tourism, or family visits. It’s a fully digital process, and takes as little as 48 hours.

✈️ No visa, no boarding: Airlines will not let you board without a valid eVisa linked to your passport after May 30, 2025.

Quick facts: Nigeria eVisa for Saudis

  • Issued for single-entry use
  • Valid for 90 days from the issue date
  • Stay up to 30 days per trip
  • Application is 100% online – no need to visit an embassy

How to apply for the Nigeria eVisa from Saudi Arabia

Applying through iVisa is the easiest route:

  1. Fill in your travel details via the iVisa website or app
  2. Upload required documents (passport, photo, bookings, etc.)
  3. Pay online with a Saudi-issued card, Apple Pay, or PayPal
  4. Receive your approval by email in 2–3 days

Arriving in Nigeria: Biometric screening

All travelers with an eVisa must complete biometric checks on arrival:

  • Go to the eVisa counter
  • Nigerian officials will take your photo and fingerprints
  • Present your passport and eVisa approval PDF

⏱️ Estimated time: 15–20 minutes

Valid for entry via Lagos (LOS), Abuja (ABV), Port Harcourt, Kano, Enugu, and Calabar

🗨️Michael Zervos, Project Kosmos traveler:

"The process was smooth. They took my fingerprints and photo, and I was done in minutes. Everyone was helpful and professional."

Required documents for Saudi applicants

✔️ Valid Saudi passport (minimum 6 months validity)

✔️ Passport-style photo (digital format)

✔️ Hotel booking confirmation or invitation letter

✔️ Return flight ticket

✔️ Recent bank statements (last 6 months)

✔️ Invitation letter if staying with friends/family

What must be included in an invitation letter?

  • Host’s full name and Nigerian address
  • Your expected travel dates
  • Copy of host’s Nigerian ID or residency permit

🗨️Tip from Femke Strietman, iVisa expert:

"If you’re staying with relatives and can’t get a formal letter, use a hotel booking with a flexible cancellation policy to avoid application delays."
