Summary
  • Mandatory for all non-Nigerian travelers - including eVisa holders and visa-exempt visitors.

  • Available in under 24 hours, often within a day. Check the timeline tool below for a quick check.

  • Required at immigration and check-in - no landing card = no entry into Nigeria.

Are you flying to Nigeria within the next day and just found out about the Nigeria Landing Card? Don’t panic.

This guide explains who needs the Nigeria Landing Card, how to get it quickly, and whether you can secure it within 24 hours.

What is the Nigeria landing card?

The Nigeria Landing Card is a mandatory digital entry form introduced in 2025. It replaces the paper customs card that used to be handed out on flights.

All travelers must complete the form online before arrival - no exceptions. The form must be submitted within 96 hours of your arrival time in Nigeria.

Once approved, you’ll receive a confirmation by email, which immigration officers may ask for upon entry.

💡 Femke Strietman, iVisa travel expert, explains:

"A digital copy is allowed, but printing it is highly recommended in case there are technical issues."

What is the difference between the Landing Card and a Nigerian eVisa?

The Nigerian Landing Card is similar to a customs card, and is mandatory for all travelers. The eVisa is available to only eligible nationalities and is formal entry approval.

Here are the main differences in a quick overview:

Document eVisa Landing Card
Purpose Entry permission Immigration form for data collection
Application Online Online
When to Apply Before traveling to Nigeria Within 96 hours before arrival
Validity 30 days (single-entry) Single use per entry
Required For Eligible foreign nationals All non-Nigerian travelers
Processing Time 24–48 hours Almost immediate upon submission
Cost Varies based on visa type and nationality Just iVisa service fee

Who needs to complete the Nigeria Landing Card?

If you're not a Nigerian citizen or resident, you need this card. This includes:

  • Tourists
  • Business travelers
  • eVisa holders
  • Even travelers from visa-exempt countries (rare)

Having a Nigerian visa is not enough. The landing card is a separate requirement for entry, and you'll need the eVisa reference number for your Landing Card submission (if you need a visa).

Can you the Nigeria Landing Card in under 24 hours?

Yes - most landing cards are processed in less than a few hours if you apply during standard working hours (9 AM to 5 PM West Africa Time). Some travelers even report receiving confirmation within minutes.

That said, delays can happen. If you're flying in the next 24 hours, submit your application immediately. If it's overnight or on a weekend, allow extra time just in case.

Check this tool to find out the expected timeline for your Landing Card based on your nationality, and plan your trip accordingly:

How to apply for the landing card

The process is fast and straightforward.

First, you must have a valid Nigerian eVisa (if applicable to your nationality). Check if you need one below and apply instantly:

Once you have your approved eVisa confirmation, follow these steps:

1️⃣ Go to iVisa’s Nigeria Landing Card page or download the mobile app

2️⃣ Fill out your personal, passport, eVisa, and travel details

3️⃣ Pay the service fee and upload any required documents

4️⃣ Receive your confirmation by email

Make sure all the info matches your travel documents. Print the confirmation or keep it accessible on your device.

What happens if you don’t have a Landing Card?

You won’t be allowed to enter Nigeria. Immigration officers will check for both your visa and the landing card confirmation. No form = no entry.

Some airlines may also require proof of completion before boarding. Skipping this step could delay your trip, or worse, get you sent home.

Need help with your Nigerian travel planning?

Even if you're short on time, getting a Nigeria Landing Card within 24 hours is absolutely possible. Just don’t leave it to the last minute. It takes a couple of minutes to apply, and approvals are usually quick.
