If you're traveling from Antigua and Barbuda to Sint Maarten (Dutch side), whether by air or sea, you’ll need to complete the Electronic Disembarkation (ED) Card online before you arrive - even if you’re just transiting.
Here’s everything you need to know.
What is the Sint Maarten ED Card?
The ED Card is a required online entry form for everyone landing in Sint Maarten (Dutch side).
It’s not a visa, but it is mandatory for entry - even for short visits, cruise stops, or airport transfers.
💡 Tip from Femke Strietman, travel expert at iVisa:
“Don’t leave this to the last minute, as having your ED Card ready means you’ll skip airport delays when arriving from Antigua or connecting via Caribbean hubs.”
Do Antigua & Barbuda citizens need the ED Card?
Yes. All citizens of Antigua and Barbuda arriving on the Dutch side of the island must have an approved ED Card, including if:
- You’re transiting through Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM)
- You’re arriving on a cruise
- You’re staying in Saint Martin (French side)

What if I’m staying on the French side (Saint Martin)?
Even if your accommodation is in Saint Martin (the French side of the island), arrival location matters.
If your flight lands at SXM (Dutch airport) or your cruise docks at the Dutch terminal, you must submit an ED Card.
“We had a ferry planned from Anguilla to the French side, but ended up flying from Antigua into Princess Juliana airport. Luckily, iVisa made the ED Card process fast - no drama!” – Kareem G., St. John's
