I’m going to Tanzania for a safari in the Serengeti. I’m stuck at the photo requirements part of the evisa application. It says ‘passport size photo.’ I’ve checked online and some websites suggest a standard US 2x2 inches, and others mention 40mm by 45mm. I can’t figure out what size photo I actually need. Help!

The required size for your passport photo for the Tanzania eVisa should be 45mm x 40mm. This is the standard dimension specified by the Tanzanian immigration authorities. Ensure that the photo is recent and reflects your current appearance with a plain white or off-white background. Your head should be positioned directly facing the camera, with a neutral expression.

Next month, I’m hitting the road for an epic East African road trip. The plan is to start in Kampala, go to Nairobi, and then travel down to Dar es Salaam. But here's where I hit a snag—I'll be entering and leaving Tanzania by land, not by air. The evisa application needs my flight details. What should I put instead?

If you're entering Tanzania by land and don't have flight details to provide on your eVisa application, you can provide a cover letter explaining your mode of entry. This will fulfill the return ticket requirement set by the Tanzanian government. A cover letter is an accepted alternative to a return ticket when entering via land.

I plan on visiting Zanzibar in a couple of weeks, but now I’m thinking of adding a short trip to Nairobi to catch up with some friends before going back to Tanzania to finish my holiday. Here’s my question: Can I use the same visa to re-enter Tanzania or do I need to apply for a new one when in Kenya?

If you have a single-entry eVisa for Tanzania and you leave the country to visit Nairobi, you will need to apply for a new one to re-enter Tanzania. The single-entry visa is only valid for one entry. Currently, only US citizens are eligible for multiple-entry visas.
