What you need to know

  • The Puerto Rico B1/B2 Visa is a multiple-entry travel document that allows you to enter Puerto Rico and it is a combination of a tourist and business visa.

  • Citizens from countries that are part of the Visa Waiver Program don’t need to apply for the Puerto Rico B1/B2 Visa, but they will need to apply for an ESTA.

  • You can also apply with iVisa for an ESTA here.

  • First-time and renewal applicants must have a valid passport for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date to Puerto Rico to apply for the visa.

  • Your reason for traveling must be for business, tourism, or medical treatment.

  • Renewal applicants cannot have exceeded the 6 months of stay allowed on past trips to Puerto Rico.

  • Applicants that qualify for an Interview Waiver only need to drop off the required documents at the Drop-Off Location we will indicate.

  • In some cases, applicants do not need to go in person to leave their documents; that decision depends on The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

  • The DHS is the only one who can decide on the interview appointment date. Currently, some locations have an interview waitlist of more than 12 months.

  • After your interview appointment, it will take at least 4 weeks until your passport is ready with your new stamped visa.
